10 Signs You’re a Natural Born Witch

The first time someone called me “witchy,” I laughed.

My idea of being a with was mostly whatever I’d read on books or seen on TV.

I wasn’t living in a cottage in the woods. I didn’t own a crystal ball. I wasn’t brewing mysterious potions by candlelight while a black cat sat dramatically on my shoulder.

I was just… me.

I liked collecting pretty rocks as a kid. I always felt calmer outside than inside.

I had a habit of noticing the moon phases without trying. I trusted my gut more than logic sometimes. I lit candles because they made ordinary evenings feel magical. I kept dried flowers tucked inside books because throwing them away felt wrong.

Over time, I realized that being “witchy” isn’t about casting spells or identifying with a particular spiritual path.

For a lot of women, it’s about intuition.

It’s about feeling deeply connected to nature, finding meaning in rituals, trusting yourself, and creating little pockets of magic in everyday life.

And before we go any further, I want to say this: this post is meant to be lighthearted and fun.

You don’t need to believe you’re literally a witch to enjoy it. Think of it more as recognizing the parts of yourself that feel intuitive, observant, creative, and a little enchanted.

Maybe you’re simply someone who notices things other people overlook.

Maybe you’re drawn to old folklore, moonlit walks, herbal tea rituals, and talking to your plants.

Or maybe you’ve just always felt a little different.

If that’s you, pull up a cozy blanket, light your favorite candle, and see how many of these signs sound familiar.

1. You Trust Your Gut More Than You Trust Logic

You can’t always explain why, but you know when something feels off.

You notice things about people that others take time to see.

Maybe you’ve met someone and instantly felt uneasy, only to discover later that your instincts were right. Or perhaps you’ve had moments where a little voice told you to take a different route home, call a friend, or say no to an opportunity that looked perfect on paper.

People might call you sensitive or overly emotional.

But deep down, you know that your intuition has saved you more times than you can count.

Natural-born witches are often incredibly tuned in to their surroundings. They pick up on energy shifts, subtle changes in people’s behavior, and feelings that others tend to dismiss.

2. Nature Feels Like Home

You’re drawn to it, and you can’t help look at nature whenever you pass by it.

Some people recharge by going to crowded parties.

You recharge by sitting under trees.

You feel better after:

  • Walking barefoot in the grass.
  • Sitting near the ocean.
  • Gardening.
  • Hiking through forests.
  • Watching thunderstorms from your window.
  • Collecting seashells on the beach.

Nature grounds you.

It quiets your mind in a way nothing else can.

3. You’ve Been Collecting “Magical” Things Since Childhood

Before you knew what witchcraft even was, you probably had collections.

  • Pretty stones.
  • Feathers.
  • Pressed flowers.
  • Tiny trinkets.
  • Acorns.
  • Shells.
  • Interesting sticks.

You saw beauty and significance in ordinary things.

Even now, you may struggle to explain why certain objects feel special.

You just know they are.

4. You Notice The Moon

This one always makes me laugh because people either relate immediately or think it’s ridiculous.

  • Do you instinctively glance up at the moon?
  • Do you know when it’s full without checking an app?
  • Do certain moon phases make you feel more energized, emotional, reflective, or creative?

Humans have always noticed the moon.

Natural-born witches simply tend to pay a little more attention to its rhythms.

5. Animals Seem Drawn To You

This I’ve noticed ever since I was child.

  • Cats that dislike everyone suddenly curl up beside you.
  • Dogs approach you first.
  • Birds don’t seem afraid of you.

Even if you aren’t an “animal person,” animals often feel comfortable around you.

Is this magical?

I believe it is so!

But many people who identify as witchy describe having a natural softness and patience that animals seem to trust.

6. You Create Rituals Without Realizing It

So, not every ritual involves incense and chanting.

Sometimes it’s:

  • Making tea the exact same way every evening.
  • Journaling before bed.
  • Lighting a candle while reading.
  • Pulling cards before a big decision.
  • Taking a bath when life feels overwhelming.
  • Tidying your home after an argument.

Rituals create a lot of comofrt.

They help us process emotions and mark transitions between different parts of our day.

You may have been creating little acts of magic all along without calling them that.

7. People Tell You Their Secrets

Have you ever noticed that strangers open up to you? They feel comfortable with you so they start talking.

  • Cashiers tell you about their marriages.
  • Coworkers share deeply personal stories.
  • Friends call you first during crises.

There’s something about your energy that makes people feel safe.

Being a “natural witch” isn’t always about mystery, like TV would have you believe.

Sometimes it’s about being deeply compassionate and emotionally intuitive.

People can sense when they won’t be judged.

8. You Feel Things Very Deeply

  • You cry during commercials.
  • You absorb the mood of a room.
  • You can tell when someone is upset even when they’re smiling.

For years, many sensitive women are told they’re “too much.”

But sensitivity isn’t weakness, know this.

It allows you to notice beauty, offer comfort, and connect with people in really meaningful ways.

The trick is learning boundaries so you don’t carry everyone else’s emotions alongside your own.

9. You’re Drawn To The Old Ways

You love:

  • Folklore.
  • Herbal remedies.
  • Cottagecore aesthetics.
  • Vintage books.
  • Family recipes.
  • Seasonal traditions.
  • Ancient myths.
  • Handwritten journals.

You find these practices that have been passed down through generations very comforting.

And you don’t necessarily reject modern life.

But you just appreciate slower, older forms of wisdom too.

10. You Find Magic In Ordinary Life

I think this is the biggest sign of all.

You don’t need dramatic experiences to feel wonder.

You notice:

  • The smell of rain on hot pavement.
  • Candlelight dancing on the walls.
  • Fresh herbs growing in the kitchen.
  • The way sunlight filters through curtains.
  • Birds singing in the early morning.
  • The comfort of stirring soup on a cold evening.

You believe life becomes more meaningful when we slow down enough to pay attention.

And maybe that’s what being a witch really is.

It’s the willingness to remain curious.

To trust yourself.

To create beauty.

To care deeply.

To honor the changing seasons of your own life.

Final Thoughts

Whether you consider yourself a witch, a deeply intuitive person, or simply someone who loves cozy rituals and moonlit walks, I hope this post reminded you that there’s nothing wrong with being sensitive, observant, and a little different.

The world often rewards speed, logic, and productivity.

And it’s incredibly beautiful when women notice small details, trust their instincts, and create magic from ordinary moments.

Maybe you don’t need a pointy hat or a spell book to be a natural-born witch.

Maybe all you really need is a curious heart, a strong intuition, and the ability to find wonder in everyday life.

And honestly?

That’s pretty magical too. ✨🌙
